International Applicants

Sarah Lawrence is an expansive community whose members recognize the intellectual and creative benefits of multinational perspective. Almost 10 percent of the student body comes to the College from countries other than the United States. The Sarah Lawrence community provides international scholars a comfortable residential experience; the campus’s proximity to New York City allows convenient access to tremendous cultural and recreational resources.

Applicants for whom English is not the native language should take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

A score of 600 (paper-based), 250 (computer-based) or 100 (Internet-based) are the minimum acceptable scores for application review. Students for whom time or distance creates a hardship in supplying these results may request an extension.

All application essays and recommendations must be written in English. Transcripts must be translated to English by a professional translation agency.

Please follow the instructions for either a first-year or a transfer application.

Financial Aid

The College's financial aid budget for international students is limited. For further information about application deadlines for financial aid for international students, please visit our Financial Aid site.

It's not too late to apply to Sarah Lawrence College

Though the January 1 deadline has passed and our counseling staff has begun reading applications, we will continue to process new mail and complete additional applications for review over the coming weeks. If you would like to be considered for first-year entrance to Sarah Lawrence College in September of 2010 as an Early Decision 2 or Regular Decision candidate, we encourage you to submit your application and financial aid documents as soon as possible.
